40K Tourney - Part 3
Today marked the last round of Games-workshop 3 month Tournament. I actually was thinking of not playing this round as I am sure that I am out of contention due to the fact that I lost in the 2nd round, but I decided to be "available" to the manager in case he needed someone to fill in. He actually did ask me if I wanted to play in the tourney, I told him sure as I was bored just looking for an open table. I took a real "dick" list, a chaos dual lash list as my thinking was I would love to play one of the "top" people and knock them out of placing, I guess I was feeling a little jealous to be honest, I should have won the 2nd round game but due to some unlucky dice and the game ending on turn 5, I lost it. This army is made up of my pre-hersey Thousand Sons with some Nightlord "allies"
I took 2 lash sorcerers, 2 squads of Thousand sons in Rhinos, 1 chosen squad with 2 meltas and 2 plasma guns in a Rhino, my infamous suicide terminator squad with 4 combi-plasmas, 1 heavy flamer, 2 power fists, 2 vindicaters, and 2 Oblits. Lash combined with vindicaters and oblits is pretty obvious but thousand sounds with the aspiring sorcerer with Wind of chaos is just plan nasty. I played against a very fluffy eldar Saim-haim (did I spell that right) jetbike list that was made up of all jetbikes, a farseer on a jetbike, and an Auturch on a jetbike. Once I knew that his farseer did not have runes of warding, I knew the game was going to go my way and my way it went. By the end of turn 6, he had a wave serpent, the farseer with a wound, and one jetbike left. Ended up winning the game 9 to 5 kill points. My opponent is a nice guy and he was gracious even in losing. I have known him for a while now but this was the first time I played him in a tournament setting. I hope GW does more of these tournaments, it brings out a lot of players that we get to play against and makes great practice for all of the "paid" tourneys. The Imperial Vox Cast boys will be holding their first tournament later in August, I might want to go to that to meet them and a chance to play in another tournament. Pics are of some of my army that I used, I have yet to take pictures of the whole army. For now, back to painting some more chaos...

The Glory of Chaos...
Ok so its back to work on my Chaos space marines/Space Wolf army. I finished base coating my next squad of 10 and I finished building and priming my first Chaos warhound/Fensrian Wolf squad. To add to all of the painting madness, I got a very flattering request, the local manager at my local FLGS asked if I could paint some of the new plastic bloodcrushers for him and get this, if I do it, I get to keep them after he uses them as a display until they are officially released. I couldn't pass this up especially since I am starting a Daemon's army.
As I mentioned in my last post, I am building a daemons army around bits and models I had lying around over the course of collecting Chaos models for the last 6 years. After trying out the army twice now I must say that the army is a lot of fun to play but having your "destiny" decided on a dice roll could make you or break you depending on if you get your preferred wave. I did get my preferred wave in both of these games which has made both games go in my favor.
Still, its a lot of fun and makes for a different army to use that you don't see that often. The plastic Bloodcrushers look amazing with each model posed in a different way. I would love to add these to my new army; and as I am on a 2 week deadline per the manager to get these done I am putting all other projects on hold. Pics are the Bloodcrushers at about 90% done. Let me know what you think..

Some added fun with Chaos...
Over the course of playing Warhammer 40K for about 6 years, you come to possess many different models from various armies. As I am primarily a Chaos player, over the course of those years I have managed to acquire all sorts of bits, models, etc. that it makes it pretty easy for me to come up with a different way to play a Chaos army. My next "leap" will be to put together a daemon army of about 1500pts as a fun project. Okay, this one, I will not paint just yet... just put together as I got what, another chaos army and a sisters army to think about. Nah, this army will be tried out primed and built together. At least I have my HQ and my 2 Daemon princes painted as I will be using my 2 current daemon princes that I use with my chaos marines. I am also using a plastic fantasy dragon for my lord of change as I can't stand the big bird model.
I picked up the codex when it first came out and being as I hardly see anyone play them in our area decided to try them out. I used the army on Saturday actually beating a space wolfs player.. granted I think it was more that my opponent never played against a daemon army then my skill at using it. I must admit not having to worry about deploying is very freshing. After the game we visited the local GW where we got our first look at the new plastic daemons coming out in August which included the plastic daemon prince (finally).
The plastics look amazing!!! Now I think I will be adding in some bloodcrushers once they are released as I would hate to have to buy metal models for each bloodcrusher. Arrgh a modelers work is never done....
