Sup everybody, I wanted to expand on my Thousand Sons army topic to give you an idea of what units I have in the army at 1750pts, why I take them and the the purpose that they serve in the list. To start with I want to talk about the HQ's that I take. In all of my 40K armies, if the points are 1500 points or more, I love to take 2 HQ's. I like having 2 IC's who when used properly can tip the scales in everything from an assault to adding to the ability of a squad to last longer. In all of my chaos armies, this definitely rings true and in this particular army I run the following HQ's -
HQ #1 - Chaos Sorcerer
Mark of Tzeentch, Warptime, Doombolt.
This HQ serves as my "all-rounder" IC, able to soak up the wounds and live with his 4+ inv save and being able to re-roll all hits and misses and use his force weapon due to him having the capability to cast 2 psychic powers makes him a threat to any IC who isn't eternal warrior. I have had this guy go up against a lot of IC's and win. His Doombolt also being able to re-roll all hits and wounds helps him contribute anti infantry firepower to any Thousand sons squad I join him too. I usually deploy him in a squad in a Rhino
HQ #2 - Artimus the Twisted
This guy is a recent addition to my army as after seeing this vampire counts fantasy model, I had to have it. Artimus is my conversion that I use as a count as Kharn, here we got a guy who for 165 points will give you 7 attacks on the charge, is immune to all psychic powers himself, gets an extra D6 against vehicles and with furious charge will wound all infantry on 2 up. Did I mention that he hits any opponent in CC on a +2? I deploy "Artimus" in another Thousand Son squad in a Rhino to deter any assaults on the squad. Even if I roll the dreaded "1" in CC, my whole army has a +4 up inv save so at least they get a chance of surviving the hit. In my last game this guy chewed through almost 2 squads of Grey Knight Terminators on his own!!! He is definitely worth the points and the flaw
Elites - Depending on what list I am taking I usually take a terminator suicide squad. Lately as I just adore the models, I have started taking Possessed once again
Elites #1 - Possessed Squad (9)
Okay, okay, before I get chewed out for taking these guys here me out. A pure Thousand Sons army lacks any real punch in CC. With the addition of 2 IC, this is certainly mitigated however I still need a unit to bring the pain if I need it. Being an avid gambler, I love playing the odds. With this unit I get a 1 in 6 chance for it to be game breaking, but as long as I roll over a 2 I'm good. Yes during my last game these guys rolled a 1 and did absolutely nothing but look evil and nasty but having the potential to get rending or power weapons (with strength 5 mind you) is nothing to scoff at. I also equip them with an icon of Khorne so that each possessed marine gets base 3 attacks. In one game I had these guys roll a 2 and with furious charge and almost 36 attacks wipe out a jetbike seer council and a wraithlord before dying to Dark Reapers.
Troops #1 and #2 - Thousand Sons Squad (9)
I started running Thousand Sons during the last year of the last Chaos codex. These guys definitely got a buff in the 4th ed codex though I do miss the old 2 wound models and not have to test for any psychic abilities. For 23 points a piece you get a guy that is fearless, a +4 invul save, Slow and purposeful, and an AP3 Bolter. Now at face value, these guys are not too bad, you get a lot for the price. Where the squad gets extremely expensive is in the Aspiring sorcerer. For every squad of Thousand Sons, you need to pay for a 60pts Sorcerer. Now if it was 60 points with a psychic power of your choice, I wouldn't have a problem but the fact that you need to pay for his psychic power as well means that you could be spending from 70 to 90 pts.
I usually run these guys as cheap as I can (9 man squad/Rhino/Doombolt) that runs around 289 pts. Lately in order to combat some of the newer "hard hitting" army, I have been equipping the Sorcerer's with Warptime making it a scary proposition for any IC who gets into combat with the squad as the force weapon could bring about the death of them. As mentioned above, I usually run each of my HQ's in each squad which makes the squad believe it or not quite formidable in Assault. In my last game against a Space Wolves player, one of my squads with my Sorcerer Lord actually took out a 3 man Thunderwolf squad in assault.
Troops #3 - Chaos Space Marine Squad
Until I finish with my third thousand sons squad, I am using one of my nightlords squads as my third troop choice. For the past 2 years since the chaos codex came out for their points cost, the basic CSM was seen as the best bang for your buck. Here you got a guy with a bolter, bolt pistol, CCW, and a high leadership all for the cost of 15 points. With the ability to take icons and 2 special weapons, here is a squad that can be tailored for just about any role. Of course when Grey hunters came out, this all changed as I think they are now the undisputed kings of the best overall for the points cost. The drawback of course is that they are not fearless and in my hands tend to always get run down in an assault. For this list I usually use them to hold objectives but equipping them with melta guns I really find that the best use of them is helping with tank hunting. The last couple of games, these guys really didnt perform for me which is why I am considering replacing them as they really dont fit the army. Maybe I will use these guys as chosen as having 4 melta guns outflanking in a rhino is nothing but win..
Heavy Supports #1 and #2 - Obliterators
These guys are nothing but win; her you got guys who can switch from any energy weapon from special to heavy each turn which makes these guys the "swiss army knife" of the chaos army. Lately however, they have been nothing but a disappointment for me. In the last 3 games I had, these guys when I deployed them in cover did nothing but miss with their lascannon shots, overheated their plasma cannons, and then just got doubled out via return fire. So as you can tell, my dice have been horrendous with these guys. I might go back to using them in a deep strike role where I could put their twin linked meltas to better use..
Heavy Support #3 - Vindicator
Wow has this guy been a surprise. This guy has not only survived my last 5 games, but has actually taken out 2 landraiders, multiple squads out in the open, to devastators in cover. This tank has been shot at and shot at by multiple weapons and the worst I have gotten on it is an immobilized due to me rolling 2 1's trying to go through cover. I am thinking of building 2 as everything I have read is that 2 of these guys in an army makes them a lot more effective.
Well there you have it guys, my 1750pt pre-hersey list. In my opinion, its pretty balanced with elements to deal with virtually any type of army. About the only thing that I might change is to drop an HQ, add in the other Vindicator and maybe go with terminators instead of the possessed.
In my last 5 games, I have won 3 and lost 2 so I will keep playing it in order to see if I will stay with it. Let me know what you guys think...

The Return of the Thousand Sons...
With my possessed Rhino all but done I am ready this weekend to take out my Pre-heresy Thousand Sons for a drive once again. My next step is to make my army completely thousand sons as I am still using a squad of Nightlords for my third troops selection. I bought a Thousand Sons army off of a friend of mine that use to be the local GW manager. Alas he was transferred over to another store but at one of the last days he was at my local store, he held a Bizarre Bazaar. The army contained 2 squads of Thousand Sons, 4 of the metal sorcerer models, a landraider, 2 rhinos, Ahriman, and a lascannon Pred, all for 40 bucks. Since this was his first try at painting models, he warned me about how rough the paint job was.
He was right on that but the models were complete, and 40 bucks is freaking cheap for all of that; nothing a little simple green cant fix and with these models helped round out my collection. In addition to the 3rd squad, I will be including a Rhino for them which means forgeworld doors for it to match my other rhinos. This is the expensive part but I love how my other ones look with these doors. My local Battle Bunker is really far however during my work week, I do work close to it 3 days a week. I could probably make my way out there during a lunch break again but we shall see, I might just order them or even place them on my Christmas list. At the least this will allow me to paint up the squad for it.
This past Saturday my Thousand Sons had the pleasure to putting the hurt on the Emperor's finest, the Grey Knights. I played a very good player who though was playing a less the competitive army, still gave me a good game. Gearing my Thousand Sons for CC, they actually did very well against Grey Knight Terminators.
Gearing up the Aspiring Sorcerers with Warp time and including an IC in the squad actually makes them pretty survivable in CC especially when one of the IC's is Kharn. The game did go to turn 6 with me contesting his objective with a Rhino but again if used right the Grey Knights could be a very potent force.
Maybe not against some of the newer 'dexes but definitely against some of the older ones. Pics are of the army, on my next post I will list the army list, go over each unit, and go over the paint scheme that I used. Until next time

continuing on the path of Chaos...
After reading the last White Dwarf (October 2010), I am inspired now to try to play my pure Thousand Sons list again. Yeah, yeah, my Chaos space wolves are fun to play and all but I really wanted to get them more painted before taking them out again. I am annoyed with taking a mostly black primer filled army, though I have my HQ's and 25 marines done, I still have the rest of the blood claws squad, my rune priest, my 2 long fangs squad, my 20 dogs, and my dread to do. In the last White Dwarf, one of the editors talked about building his Word Bearers army.
Here is this guy who read some black library books and decided to take what he considered a "fluffy" Word Bearers army for as he put it, he wanted to bring some of their villiany to the tabletop. As we all know, running a Chaos Army nowadays is more something about the hobby then wanting to be competitive. Yes there are still competitive builds out their, but usually they involve a lash and spamming of oblits. Among the units that he used was a Daemon Prince, Possessed, and summon daemons. Many of the units in his army are considered some of the worst in the game and not very competitive yet this guy wanted to build an army that appealed to him and it shows. Of course some people will say that this is GW's attempt at trying to sell more spawn models, or possessed, etc but truth be told, these latest chaos models are some of the best looking that GW has released for Chaos. Their rules might not be up to par but I am a victim of wanting to play with models that I like the look of. The paint job is very good, not heavy metal good but definitely on par with some of the armies I've seen in my area. I really loved the way he brought his possessed and daemon prince together by giving them the same color of skin and incorporating possessed bits on his aspiring champs in his CSM squads. His vehicles were very well done, so good that I copied the way he did his rhinos, I built and am starting to paint a rhino just like his. My possessed squad needed a rhino and with my spare parts I created a rhino "worthy" to ferry my possessed around.
My possessed "gunner" i created with some spare possessed bits and gave him a plasma gun/pistol that I plan on using as a count as combi-plasma. I really didnt want to cut up a chaos terminator combi-melta for this and I have plenty of plasma pistol arms laying around that I decided to use that instead. The tentacles i got from spare spawn bits which I will paint to match the skin of my possessed squad to follow their theme. I am also going to build a new daemon prince following the white dwarf example and will be painting his skin exactly like the possessed to tie the too units together. I will continue to paint my space wolves as well hoping to possibly getting the 15 man blood claws squad done in the next week and a half.
Lately our local space wolf player has begun to play his wolves similar to mine which will provide me with great practice on how to take out this type of build. As if I didn't want to try something else I am also playing my Tau again. I have played about 3 games with them so far since I shelved them almost a year ago.. I just wanted to see how bad it is to play this army. So far I can honestly say that yes they need an update but I am 2-1 with them and the change of game has been really fun. I will post more info on my Tau army in my next post. Pics are of my pre-heresy Thousand sons Rhinos and my Possessed about 80% done.

Tournament Time...
2 Saturdays ago marked our local GW's Single elimination tournament. A 2000 points win at all costs tournament in which a loss means your out. The TO of this tournament did the same setup when he did the kill team tournament that he ran a couple of months ago. I wasn't expecting this type of setup, I at least wanted to be guaranteed 3 games and me being so new with my army, I wasn't expecting to win it. What I can say is that I prepared for Kill points and pitched battle as the TO told us that the tourney would be using these setups and my army was very stingy in the kill point department with my opponents needing to kill squads to give up one and only having 1 vehicle which was my venerable Dred. My list consisted of the following -
Wolf Lord on Jugger...ah thunderwolf with frost weapon, belt of russ, runic armor, bolt pistol
Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf with Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, runic armor
Wolf Lord on Thunderwolf with Frost weapon, Storm Shield, runic armor, and saga of the wolfkin
All 3 had 2 wolf body guards and joined a 14 Wolf squad
Rune Priest with Murderous Hurricane and living lightning
Blood claw pack (13) with power weapon
2 Grey hunter packs with power weapon, plasma gun, melta gun
Venerable Dred with Assault Cannon
2 Long Fang squads, 1 with 3 missile launchers and 2 Plasma Cannons, 1 with 3 Lascannons and 2 heavy bolters.
My First game was against an Ork player. Again all I can say is OMG!!! My opponent brought a tough list with 2 15 ork commando units, one led by Snikrot. I gave him first turn as I wanted to see what he was going to do and I wanted to deploy my Long Fangs in the best position that I could. He deployed his hammer unit of Nobs with his warboss in the center of the table. This was the unit that I need to make disappear as I know the power of the unit. Big mistake my opponent did was not to deploy them in his battle wagon opting instead to have them go on foot. He put his big unit of burnas in the wagon which I immobilized in turn 2 thus causing my opponent to have to footslog it.
After taking out his nob squad and then the unit of 3 killer kans, the rest was clean up. The only threat my opponent had was his 2 commando squads which didnt come in until turn 3 and were thus left with taking out just a long fang squad that I let him have. My Wolf lords performed exactly like they had in my last 2 games, just destroying everything they touched. By turn 4, my opponent conceited the game and I scored a mighty 8 kill points and he scored 1. Another victory for my chaos space wolves.
Next game was against the guy who ended up winning the tourny who played a blood angel army that amongst my opponents would be the toughest I would face. The game was pretty even with both of us having a very good hammer unit that if used properly could change the outcome of the game. I started very strong by killing 1 of his Baal Preds and stunning his landraider. He responded by taking out my blood claws and a grey hunter unit with my rune priest. This was just dumb, as he lost 3 jump troops including his Sang priest due to murderous hurricane. My opponent just rolled incredible and I just rolled horribly. This one assault squad accounted for both my Grey Hunters squad and would have kept going if I didn't split one of my lords from my hammer unit to deal with them.
I wasn't the only one rolling badly, my opponent actually ended up immobilizing his landraider and his other Baal Pred. Even though I had lost 3 of my units, it still was a close game until I made a huge mistake. I didn't account for the 2 inches that a unit gets for disembarking from a vehicle, that 2 inches gave my opponent's death company and chaplain to reach one of my lords dogs as I had broke from cover trying to assault another one of his assault units which I couldn't reach due to a bad fleet roll. After the assault phase was done, I had lost all of my dogs as he got his death company and his assault squad in assault with me and put 2 wounds on my 2 lords. My lords fought back and cut down almost half of both huge squads but were eventually brought down. If my 3rd lord was still in the unit, the assault would have definitely gone my way. The game went on until turn 6 with me almost tying it but again due to a low fleet roll, couldn't get to his last baal pred with my remaining Wolf Lord. I lost 7 to 6. Ah well, it was a good game but it goes to show that my army is not unbeatable. Its definitely a hard list and one that is fun to play. It was a great tournament and even though I didn't win I was awarded a Black Library book and an audio book. Pics are of my almost finished Thunderlords and 5 of my 15 Bloodclaws.

Test 2...
Well I got the chance this Wednesday to try out my army once again before the big tournament. As I mentioned in an earlier post, my lovely wife allowed me to purchase 2 6 by 2 tables which when put together form a nice 6x4 gaming table, of course after I lay down my battlemat and some terrain. As our living space is limited, the only place to play confortably is in our patio and as the temperature had dropped significantly would be nice to play outside after work. Wednesdays is our weekly gaming/painting meet between my wife and my best friend to talk strategy, paint some models, and play some games. We rarely play 40K until our weekly Saturday club meetings at our FLGS so this was definitely a chance I couldnt pass up. My friend is also going to be in the tournament and will be taking a tough as nails Chaos list. This list consists of 2 squads of terminators, a chaos terminator lord, deamon prince, and a greater daemon. Along with these hard hitting units he is also bringing with him oblits, a defiler, landraider, and vindicator. I love this list as having all of these options makes it hard for an opponent to know what to shoot at first I mean do I go after the defiler, the vindicator, the daemon prince, or the landraider; not to mention the rhinos full of chaos space marines and chosen. This is where long fangs just shine, with their ability to split fire I could potential take out 3-4 vehicles a turn or put a lot of wounds on a daemon prince. My friend deployed first with his most hard hitting units in the center getting ready for the charge. I deployed my super unit in the center to soak up some damage with my long fangs squad deployed on each side of my deployment area (we were playing kill points/pitched battle like the tourney).
My Grey hunters were also deployed in this way along with my blood claws and Dread. What we both didnt expect was that I would steal the initiative and take out his defiler and vindi in the first turn!! My super unit did what they do best and took out some rhinos, the land raider, and some terminators. His daemon prince actually did pretty well against my lords actually killing one of them and killing all of my dogs. This I expected as a slaaneshi daemon prince with warp time is still very deadly. By the time turn 5 came around, my friend only had his greater deamon and a rhino filled with 9 chaos marines. I cant say that I should take all the credit as my friend was for the most part rolling pretty bad, especially his reserve rolls with his greater daemon not coming out until turn 5 and his terminator lord with his retinue not coming until turn 4, still my list performed brilliantly and I will definitely go on record with saying that as it stands now, the Space Wolves are without a doubt the strongest codex out there. Now to see how I do in the tournament as I will be facing blood angels and definitely space wolves. Wish me luck...

Test 1...
Today was the first day I took out my Chaos (space wolves) army for a "test drive". All I gotta say is OMG!!! This first game with my Space Wolves was definitely a surprise for me, I knew that the list was going to do well but I expected to tie or lose until I got the hang of the list.
What I didn't count on was how forgiving the army was. My first game I played a very good Black Templar player who has been using his army for years now and is a very accomplished player.
I actually played him during a tournament last year and he soundly beat my Thousand sons army with the same army. I deliberately held my "hammer" unit of the 3 thunder lords and their dog retinue on the right side of the table away from his sword brethren terminator squad in a landraider whom he deployed on his right side. I threw them a bone by letting them munch on my blood claws squad which he charged and killed all but one of them. I then assaulted them with my venerable dread after shooting them up with a squad of grey hunters. My Dread actually ended up holding up the squad until turn 5 which effectively took them out of the game until my lords could get over to that side. My 2 mistakes was deploying my 2 long fangs squads with for all of their trouble only killed 1 rhino and maybe 6 neophytes. They really didn't contribute much to the game as by killing the landraider the game would have been easier for me. My second was a missed assault with my dogs and my lords by failing a roll to assault 3 squads at once having him in return assault me.
This action killed all of my dogs thus giving him a kill point and possibly could have lost 1 or 2 of my lords, thank goodness for 2+ saves as my opponent put about 15 wounds on my lords, wounding 2 of them. After these mistakes though my 3 lords accounted for 48 dead marines including the emperors champion and his marshal. I hope to have more of the army painted before next Saturday in time for the tourney, at least I dont have to have the whole army done by then as the tourney organizer just wants the armies to be WYSIWYG... Pics are of my 3 Thunders lords about 40% done.

Back to Chaos...
Last Saturday was the last week for my planetary empires campaign and wow was it full of surprises... Overall with almost 13 titles our local Eldar player took it beating out both a blood angels and space wolf player for the top spot, maybe their is something to this idea that its the player that makes the list and not the list that makes the player.
The missions varied as well and not all objective based so these wins were not easy. Of the 8 players I thought that it would come down between the Blood angel, the Space Wolf, or the Chaos player who plays a solid Slaaneshi themed list and who in fact tied the eldar player who besides the tie went undefeated. I unfortunately wasn't able to play as yet again all of the players showed up. No pick up games either as all the tables were being used.
Oh well, this week began with me concentrating on getting back to my Chaos/Space Wolves army and actually finishing my first 20 Grey Hunters/Chaos space marines. Now I need to concentrate on my 15 man Bloodclaws squad, my 2 Long Fangs squads, and my 4 HQ's which I already started on.
I have a 2000 pt tourney that I might be a part of and I would love to take this army, but we shall see as I would like to have more of it done before I take it for a test drive. Pics are of my Finished Chaos marine/Grey Hunters (just got to do the trim around the bases). Let me know what you think...

For the Emperor???!!
Okay so yeah I'm back to playing my Black Templars/Sisters army. One of my fellow players who is playing in my planetary empires campaign is using his Black Templar Drop pod army and just seeing these zealous guys in action made me feel like pulling out my army again. The funny thing is I started this blog to talk about painting my Sisters as an ally of my Black Templar's which I actually got done with except the immolater and the Rhino. I do have several more sisters but not enough to start a dedicated army. For now, I will keep them as allies to my black templars, maybe in time I will have enough to do small point 1000pt games.
The latest rumor is that they will get a PDF. codex like the blood angels did which I would welcome, just hope they finally release some plastic sisters as well. This last Saturday I played 2 games with them getting a tie against a heavy mech IG army who had 4 leman russ tanks, this game I lost due to making 2 key mistakes, 1 having one of my troop squads running off an objective to kill a vanquisher tank as I didn't want it to kill my landraider crusader. I should have kept them their and thus won the game 3-2. My other one was a terrible "noobie" mistake, since my immolater was immobilized, I decided to jump my Dominion squad into the landraider crusader as my Sword Brethren had already jumped out of it and killed 3 squads and a tank.
My Dominion squad and my Cannoness jumped into the crusader and leaped out in front of my opponents veteran squad who was claiming an objective and with 4 flamers, killed all but one of the vets, the problem came as I also fired my cannoness' bolt pistol and my sister superior's bolter thus I couldnt assault after even though they had come out of a landraider, that one vet cost me the game. The other game was just an absolute slaughter, it was a game against a straight marine player complete with Calgar. My emperors champ actually put 3 wounds on him and ended up killing him in the next assault phase, wow the best my champ has done. I did have 2 5 man assault squads hold up one of my 20 man squads for almost 3 turns as my opponent was rolling absolutely fantastic. He was making all kinds of saves until my champ got a hold of the squad and just started killing them with his black sword. This Saturday will be the last week of my campaign, a 2000pts battle for all the marbles and yes my black templars will be making another appearance as a ringer if someone decides not to show... If they all show well then it will be time for some more fun pick up games. Pics are of my Sisters squads with my "Cannoness"; the Emperor's Champ is from GW, I will post pics of my Black Templars in another post..I keep promising myself that I will continue to work on my chaos army again, or course when that will happen is anybody's guess... Geez I really need to focus...

Plantery Empires...
This weekend is the 2nd round of my Planetary Empires Campaign. I asked the GW manager if he would allow me to run a Plantary Empires campaign several weeks ago and he loved the idea. I purchased the tile set about a year ago and have only got to use it once since then, a campaign in which I tried to do a team based one failed miserably as I had a huge issue with getting 12 players to "show up" to play. I decided to run this one without some of the complications in team games and opened it up to 8 players who will fight it out in a 4 week campaign. I modified the rules as well, basically the rules for the buildings I kept the same such as getting a USR for each command bunker for a unit, 50 additional points for each manufactorum, etc. I did create some specific scenarios however kept them pretty simple as to not confuse the players or myself.
The Map is just great for keeping track of wins and losses and inspires players to try their best at winning as with each loss, they lose one of their precious tiles. The games have been surprising with the supposed "good" players losing to the mediocre players in some games and supposed top codex's losing to non competitive ones. All in all the campaign has been fun to run and I can't wait to start another one, I will just make it a point to play in the next one as in this one everybody is showing up to play with no chance to play the "ringer" unlike the last time I ran it. The next time will also have more of a theme, Imperium vs. Chaos/Xenos or something like that. We shall see..

Fear... Fear is my Ally...
Yeah,Yeah, I know its been said before but I just love that statement when referencing my Nightlords especially after reading Soul Hunter. Its been a long time since I pulled them back out again, but I decided to for my local GW's Kill team tournament held this last Saturday.
I spent the week leading up to Saturday wondering what army to pull out for this tourney as the 200 points limit really limits my options. I tried the 6 Chaos Terminator list which works great but I was fearing that people would find ways to bring in vehicles or worse dreads. The Termie list I was going to take had no way of killing dreads from range or Close Combat; I tried playing around with taking 2 combi-meltas but relying on 2 one shot guns isn't something I'm to keen on.
I did some practice games with the terminators and found that missing with the combi-meltas could cost me the game. I also tried out a team of 5 Tau stealthsuits. I could do 6 but found that needing 4's to hit was a real downer for me. 5 with targeting arrays did really well in 2 test games that I did with them against a tyranid player and a chaos space marine player.
The stealthfield generator guaranteed that my opponents needed to roll just to see them any time they fired at my suits which caused some frustration. I was about to take these and just remembered that speed, real speed might be the way to go with this one. Tau battlesuits really are not fast, they just appear to be fast and since I really wanted something that could also kill mech, it was going to be tough unless I got rear armor shots; enter my Nightlord Raptors. Yeah, yeah, people hate assault marines and I do admit that they really lost a lot in the 4th ed codex, but being able to take 9 of them with 2 melta guns really was tempting. In the end I took the Nightlords and they preformed great. On average I was facing 5-6 models tops with people taking dreads, landspeeders, terminators and even a Valkyrie. I won 3 of the 4 games including a victory in which the player didnt even get a turn, i blew up his valkyrie in my first turn and he lost 5 of his squad inside and rolled an 11 for his leadership.
I finally ended up losing to my friend where I rolled a 10 on my leadership after losing 5 models, thems the break I guess. Almost pulled it off, oh well, maybe next time. Pics are of some of my Raptors, let me know what you think.

40K Tourney - Part 3
Today marked the last round of Games-workshop 3 month Tournament. I actually was thinking of not playing this round as I am sure that I am out of contention due to the fact that I lost in the 2nd round, but I decided to be "available" to the manager in case he needed someone to fill in. He actually did ask me if I wanted to play in the tourney, I told him sure as I was bored just looking for an open table. I took a real "dick" list, a chaos dual lash list as my thinking was I would love to play one of the "top" people and knock them out of placing, I guess I was feeling a little jealous to be honest, I should have won the 2nd round game but due to some unlucky dice and the game ending on turn 5, I lost it. This army is made up of my pre-hersey Thousand Sons with some Nightlord "allies"
I took 2 lash sorcerers, 2 squads of Thousand sons in Rhinos, 1 chosen squad with 2 meltas and 2 plasma guns in a Rhino, my infamous suicide terminator squad with 4 combi-plasmas, 1 heavy flamer, 2 power fists, 2 vindicaters, and 2 Oblits. Lash combined with vindicaters and oblits is pretty obvious but thousand sounds with the aspiring sorcerer with Wind of chaos is just plan nasty. I played against a very fluffy eldar Saim-haim (did I spell that right) jetbike list that was made up of all jetbikes, a farseer on a jetbike, and an Auturch on a jetbike. Once I knew that his farseer did not have runes of warding, I knew the game was going to go my way and my way it went. By the end of turn 6, he had a wave serpent, the farseer with a wound, and one jetbike left. Ended up winning the game 9 to 5 kill points. My opponent is a nice guy and he was gracious even in losing. I have known him for a while now but this was the first time I played him in a tournament setting. I hope GW does more of these tournaments, it brings out a lot of players that we get to play against and makes great practice for all of the "paid" tourneys. The Imperial Vox Cast boys will be holding their first tournament later in August, I might want to go to that to meet them and a chance to play in another tournament. Pics are of some of my army that I used, I have yet to take pictures of the whole army. For now, back to painting some more chaos...

The Glory of Chaos...
Ok so its back to work on my Chaos space marines/Space Wolf army. I finished base coating my next squad of 10 and I finished building and priming my first Chaos warhound/Fensrian Wolf squad. To add to all of the painting madness, I got a very flattering request, the local manager at my local FLGS asked if I could paint some of the new plastic bloodcrushers for him and get this, if I do it, I get to keep them after he uses them as a display until they are officially released. I couldn't pass this up especially since I am starting a Daemon's army.
As I mentioned in my last post, I am building a daemons army around bits and models I had lying around over the course of collecting Chaos models for the last 6 years. After trying out the army twice now I must say that the army is a lot of fun to play but having your "destiny" decided on a dice roll could make you or break you depending on if you get your preferred wave. I did get my preferred wave in both of these games which has made both games go in my favor.
Still, its a lot of fun and makes for a different army to use that you don't see that often. The plastic Bloodcrushers look amazing with each model posed in a different way. I would love to add these to my new army; and as I am on a 2 week deadline per the manager to get these done I am putting all other projects on hold. Pics are the Bloodcrushers at about 90% done. Let me know what you think..

Some added fun with Chaos...
Over the course of playing Warhammer 40K for about 6 years, you come to possess many different models from various armies. As I am primarily a Chaos player, over the course of those years I have managed to acquire all sorts of bits, models, etc. that it makes it pretty easy for me to come up with a different way to play a Chaos army. My next "leap" will be to put together a daemon army of about 1500pts as a fun project. Okay, this one, I will not paint just yet... just put together as I got what, another chaos army and a sisters army to think about. Nah, this army will be tried out primed and built together. At least I have my HQ and my 2 Daemon princes painted as I will be using my 2 current daemon princes that I use with my chaos marines. I am also using a plastic fantasy dragon for my lord of change as I can't stand the big bird model.
I picked up the codex when it first came out and being as I hardly see anyone play them in our area decided to try them out. I used the army on Saturday actually beating a space wolfs player.. granted I think it was more that my opponent never played against a daemon army then my skill at using it. I must admit not having to worry about deploying is very freshing. After the game we visited the local GW where we got our first look at the new plastic daemons coming out in August which included the plastic daemon prince (finally).
The plastics look amazing!!! Now I think I will be adding in some bloodcrushers once they are released as I would hate to have to buy metal models for each bloodcrusher. Arrgh a modelers work is never done....

The Lure of Chaos...again...
Arrgh, so again the lure of chaos has called me again, again I am building a new chaos army... sorry my Sisters of battle, I am inspired to get another chaos army to the desktop, that and GW pulling the rug out of my idea by killing the ally system. My sisters will still be a focus but due to Games-workshop releasing their codex as a PDF, we came to find out that the ally system that I was going to use (with my Black Templars) is no longer valid. Well that or you can ask your opponent if its ok seems to be the answer which is pretty lame, why not just admit that you can't ally or you can and be done with it. I do own the codex however, I dont want to be in a position where every game with them is going to start with, "uh, are you ok with me using Sisters with my black templars?" As such, I am going to have to build an entire witch-hunters army if I ever want to field them without any questions; that or play some apocalypse. Lucky for me, I picked up 2 of the old imperial guard storm troopers metal box sets at a GW Bizarre Bazaar dirt cheap to use as inquisitorial storm troopers bringing my model count for the sisters to almost 70 models. Now I just need to get some Exorcist tanks and I should have a full army.
For my new Chaos army, I will be using the space wolf codex after playing against it numerous times and wanting to try a different take on it.
I listened to the 11th company's podcast several episodes back when Pat had Goatboy on and the list he described sounded like a lot of fun to play. After taking a look at the codex and finding old models to use, I found that it would take very little for this army to come about and it would seem very chaos like. I bought the Khorne lord on a juggernaut almost 2 years ago when it came out as the model is gorgeous. This will be the basis for my army; a Khorne lord riding a juggernaut to be my count as wolf lord on a thunderwolf mount. For the color scheme I am doing a pre-Hersey scheme, blue trim with the majority of the army in white that I am also washing black to make it appear dark grey and dingy.
I really cant stand to paint normal marines, they are just too plain for me and I love the ornate power armor that Chaos marines have. Attached are pics of my new Chaos army first squad (count as Grey Hunters). Let me know what you think.... I plan on having the next 5 guys in the next squad done by next week.
